Racking and Shelving – Sharing Some Basic Facts

There is not much difference between the concept of racking and shelving. Both are storage options required largely within warehouses and factories. They are also seen within residential houses. However, there are certain minute differences between these two storage procedures. While rack systems are more into storing items following a certain pattern and ordering, shelving is a slight different approach. Shelving is simply storing of items to make them look attractive while displaying.

Rack is one of the most common terms used for storage. Haven’t one heard about CD storage racks? Then, there are also book racks one can find in libraries. Also, one can find wine racks at bars. These are used to hold these items in a specific pattern. Every item is placed in a systematic manner. This helps in easy sorting out of the placed items.

There different type of storage racking systems available in the market. Each of these items has different type of materials to store. These days, more generic type of racks is being manufactured. They do have their own purposes for material storage, but mostly being used to store assorted items.

Finding good quality rack systems is important for warehouses and factories. In most case, solid structures are required to resist heavier weights. Be it racking or shelving system, iron is the most common material used for preparing these items. Hardwood racks with iron frames are also common but mostly seen within library areas. There are different type of racking and shelving systems available in the market. However, demand is more for custom made products. This allows for perfect measurement while preparing these items. Aluminum and steel shelving systems are mostly seen within residential houses. These items are mostly being used within kitchen areas.
