As a teacher you might find it difficult to elicit responses from your students. In such a scenario, you will have to adopt some methods to make the students respond. Experts suggest that the techniques of propaganda are appropriate for this purpose. First and foremost, you need to be aware of the meaning of the word ‘propaganda’ to understand the importance of these techniques. In simple terms, a persuasive message is known as propaganda. Therefore, if you want to elicit clear responses from your students, it is essential that you adopt these techniques. Following are some of the benefits that you will get to experience:

• Critical thinking – For the overall development of your students it is crucial that they are made aware of the importance of critical thinking. If you start using these techniques you will notice that slowly & steadily your students will start thinking critically. Furthermore, critical thinking plays a major role in the lives of those students who are pursuing the AP English Language and Composition course.

• Analyzing – Usually, the students tend to mug up things. They never analyze the things or the logic behind them. However, techniques of propaganda would help you in developing their analyzing skills. By doing so they will able to respond better to every message that is conveyed to them. Furthermore, they will be able to take better decisions for themselves. For example, if they see a print advertisement they will be able to analyze the information, and decide whether to buy the product or not.

• Questioning – Most of the students sit quietly when the teacher tries to explain something to them. However, it is important that they come up with relevant questions. Most of the students hesitate in asking questions. With the aid of these techniques you can persuade them to ask questions.

Some of the result-oriented techniques that you can use are as follows:

• Card stacking – It can do wonders for your students. You must give it a shot.

• False dilemma – Some people claim that a false dilemma promotes critical thinking. However, you must crosscheck the authenticity of their claims beforehand.

• Assertion – Over the years, assertion has been found to be quite useful.

There are several other techniques that you can use. As mentioned earlier, the students pursuing the AP English Language and Composition course should definitely be exposed to these techniques. These will help them in enhancing their skills. Furthermore, they will be able to grasp things a lot faster.
