New Town and Old Town of Edinburgh?

The capital city of Scotland is Edinburgh. Politically and historically this is an important city of the Scotland as it home to the parliament of Scotland. Edinburgh is one of the most beautiful cities of the entire Europe because of its many art galleries, historic buildings, castles, museums and the festivals that take place in the city. If we rightly said this is a city of fun and festivals. The most electrifying and exiting time to visit Edinburgh is in August, when the International Edinburgh Festival takes place.

The two areas of Edinburgh Old Town and the New Town. Old Town and New town are of immense historical importance. The history is sealed in its architecture which has been greatly preserved and well-maintained over the years. In Edinburgh the New Town can be classified as the city’s high street. The New Town of Edinburgh is a busy shopping and entertainment area. On the other hand old Town is prominent area for political and business activities.

Edinburgh has accommodations to suite all tastes and budgets. Different types of accommodations are available in Edinburgh like hostels, luxury hotels, flats, apartments, houses, villas etc. There are many ways to book these accommodations. Old Town in Edinburgh:

Old Town is one of the most classical and historical areas of Edinburgh. Edinburgh’s Old Town has many traditional buildings and a unique medieval layout. The main road of Old Town is known as Royal Mile with one end by the Edinburgh Castle and the other end down to the ruins of Holyrood Abbey. The Old Town of Edinburgh is hub of a number of landmark locations like the Palace of Holyrood (the Queen lives here whenever in Scotland), Royal Museum of Scotland, University of Edinburgh, General Assembly Hall, Surgeon’s Hall etc. The Edinburgh Centre is that part of the Old Town which is a very busy area and loaded with tourist.

New Town in Edinburgh:

The New Town of Edinburgh is officially declared as a World Heritage site by the UNESCO. New Town is located in the heart of Edinburgh with all places of interest nearby. Opposing to its name, its neo-classical and historic architecture is still preserved. This area of the city has all the listed and planned buildings. This area of Edinburgh has high valued property and accommodation in this area is considered to be an expensive accommodation. This is mainly because between the buildings there are beautiful and attractive communal gardens, which makes the area more green, restful, tranquil and peaceful. Edinburgh’s New Town is to be considered the fashion hub of the city. You can easily find out almost all brands, chains, pubs, restaurants and fashion boutiques in the area.
