After doing some research on Derbyshire, you will discover that there are many places to visit in this quaint U.K. county. The first thing you need to do is to look for hotels in Derbyshire. Afterwards, look for interesting sites to visit and fun things to do near your chosen hotel.

Some of the most interesting places you can visit in Derbyshire are antique shops that dot the area. You will find shops that sell old pine items like doors and handles. You can use these for your own home to give it an old-world charm that sets your front door apart from the others.

You should also visit Bolsover Castle that sits atop a hill. Take a walking tour around the area. Inside, you will find old restored paintings. You can take an audio tour and visit the attic, the old hall, and stables around the property. Take a trip to this 17th century castle with the entire family.

The Buxton Opera House is another site to visit if you are into the art and theatre. You can watch plays, musicals and ballets in this theatre while you are in town. Sometimes they hold circus performances which your children will enjoy. There is a refreshment kiosk the site where you can get tea or cocktails.

Another place to visit in Derbyshire is the Hardwick Hall and Gardens. Here, you will see beautiful landscaped gardens created in the 1500s. You can explore the Elizabethan mansion as you take a stroll in its peaceful gardens. There is a restaurant on the grounds that serve locally grown food.

The Matlock Farm Park is also another venue to see in this city. It consists of 600 acres of working farmland that offers activities for young and old. Here, you will see various animals like peacocks, llamas, red deer and more. There are play grounds for young children and go cart tracks for older kids and adults.

You also have to visit the Derby Cathedral which is a very interesting church that holds the remains of Bess of Hardwick. View the gothic style cathedrals, stained glass windows and listen to the lunch time organ concerts. The tomb inscriptions in the cathedral will fascinate you.

Visit the Crich Tramway Village where you will discover a restored town where the Crich Museum is also located. Once you enter this village you will feel like you’ve stepped into a different world. The Victorian streets, shops and tea rooms speak of a different time and place. Enjoy workshops and exhibits all over the village.

Carsington Water is a family destination in Derby. It’s a great place to visit if you have children. Take your children there on good weather so they can enjoy running around as you picnic on the grounds. Visit the bird observatory and rent a bike to tour the area.

Ask the concierge at the hotels in Derbyshire for more tourist destinations in the area. Take your camera along when you go site seeing as there are many picturesque places to visit in this county. There are also numerous art galleries to visit aside from landscapes and old villages.
