Criminal Justice Systems – Taking Up the Subject As Career Option
It is hard to conjure up the picture of a society which is untouched from the defiant characters. In order to tackle the behavior of such anti-social group the society creates its own judicial system which consists of police, courts and corrections. The criminal justice system exists to counteract the crimes which take place on daily basis.
Over the few years, students all around the globe have started taking up the criminal justice system as a subject. By taking introduction to criminal justice, students get a fair idea of what it means to be deviant in our society. The topic is a very interesting one which addresses all the three components of the justice system.
The first aspect of understanding criminal justice system is to grasp the theory about the nature of crime. There are various theories that offer lucid explanations for the origin of crime. Some of the prominent theories include labeling theory, radical theory, and conflict theory, positivist theories such as psychological and biological theories. The whole thing deals with highlighting the social and legal definitions of crime and ramifications of these terms in our society.
The students is taught how to determine what is considered deviant in the eyes of law and the skill thus obtained will be used in the workforce to combat individuals who express these qualities.
Thus, an introduction to criminal justice systems will give information which may in turn help the student conclude about the career goals. Over the years, an intriguing feature of medical science has revolutionized not just the medical sciences but has also planted its deep impacts in the legal field too. With the advance in the field of science and technology, electronic health record systems have been introduced. It is a set up which is designed to record all the medical data of a patient after he is treated.
What has become a disturbing feature is the growing threat of losing one’s medical privacy as there is a constant threat of the proliferation of these electronic health records to some wrong hands. This also comes under the scrutiny of the criminal justice systems who strive to make sure that such a proliferation of data does not occur constantly. Securing medical privacy implies that confidential personal information will not be disclosed to the third parties. The major and controversial concern that requires additional discussion is safeguarding the confidentiality of private medical information.
