In the 21st century, Automobile companies are not only manufacturing newer & sleeker vehicles but also vehicle accessories such as Music systems, DVD/CD Players, car roof racks and many more. Roof rack is the best solution for carrying your equipment when going on camping trips. This helps you to carry items like luggage, canoes, and kayaks, ladders, camping & fishing gear which may not fit inside vehicles.

Long list of options are available there, if you are going to buy roof racks. If there is factory fitted side rails on your vehicle, roof racks with cross bars attach to the vehicle’s side rails. One another type of roof rack has straps and on the edge of the vehicle’s roof, these straps attach to roof mounts. Every vehicle has different shape & size and is used for different purposes. For example some vehicles have rain gutters and this type of vehicle need totally different roof racks that may have enough space for gutters. Some vehicles have factory fitted tracks. So always consider design of vehicle’s roof when purchasing roof racks. Additionally you must make sure that roof racks which you are going to purchase must meet the specification of the vehicle’s manufacturer and load rating of vehicle. If you have no idea about it you must discuss your needs with well qualified roof rack specialists.

Roof racks are considered as the best option for carrying the load but there are few precautions that need to be taken. You must check at the frequent stops that your luggage has not shifted and all ties have not loosened. Since roof racks evenly distribute the load, try to place the heavy item in the centre of vehicle’s roof. You must purchase the eye bolts for the cross bars and for better tightening use ratchet straps. Buying eye bolts will be your worth investment. There is a roof load limit for each and every vehicle that is usually low including the weight of rack. This will be worth noting that limits are for Off-road use and for On-road use. There is no need to have roof racks installed always on the roof of vehicle. When not in use Roof racks can easily be removed

Glass filled nylon, high strength aluminum and steel are used in the manufacturing of roof racks. Zinc plated & polyester powder coated Steel components are used for added protection & appearance. But when using roof racks, proper maintenance and treatment against weather are the most important things for long lasting roof racks.
