Amber is found in many countries

Many people consider amber as a stone because we usually see amber in hard form and people use amber in ornaments like stones. Amber is an organic material that is made from a fossil tree resin. The tree from which amber is taken is very soft and sticky so amber can be molded in different forms and shapes. Similarly, there are many uses of amber and it is used by ornament industry for making fabulous jewelry items. Besides, amber is also used by perfume making industry because amber provides a very unique odor and it is liked by many people. Amber can also be used medically and this usage of amber has been there since ages because amber is regarded as a very good healing agent.

Word amber has been taken from an Arabic word and usage of this substance is not new. People in B.C. used to use this substance and it is said that word electricity was taken from the Greek word of amber because it glows. Amber is soluble in alcohol and fire melts it because it oxidizes on exposure to oxygen. Amber can be found washed up on beaches of some countries like New Zealand and this substance is less dense than stones. Amber can be found from America to Africa but Baltic

area is the origin of this substance because amber was the first discovered in Prussia.

Amber is present in many countries of the world like Myanmar, Malaysia, Germany, Romania and North America but Russia is the greatest source for providing amber and it is considered that Russia has ninety percent of the world reserves of amber. We usually get amber in liquid form because it is a fossilized tree resin and the tree is very soft. Amber is usually mined from rocks and it is washed in different revolving barrels that have sand and water because sand is considered as the best source for washing amber.

There are many types, kinds and classes of amber and there are the two main types of amber that are called terpenoids and phenolic. Phenolic type of amber is extracted from angiosperms and is used for functional uses. There are five different classes of amber according to their chemical composition. Class I of amber is the most abundant class that comprises of carboxylic acid and it is further divided into a having succinic acid which gives irritating fume on burning. B of class I of amber does not have succinic acid and c is Dominican amber. Class II of amber is formed from cadinene and class III have polystyrenes. Whereas, class IV of amber is not polymerized and class V is produced by a pine.

Amber can be shaped into many kinds and forms and natural Baltic amber is the kind of amber that does have the natural properties without any chemical change in them. Modified Baltic amber is the kind of amber that is prepared in a unit under high pressure. Whereas, reconstructed Baltic amber is prepared in a plant by adding certain components in that. Bonded Baltic amber is made by using a colorless bonding agent in very small amount.
