Airport Parking Tips in Midwestern Airports

By Trudi Thorburn Subscribe to RSS | May 18th 2012 | Views:

Since the advent of commercial flight, airports have been busy serving millions of travelers from all over the U.S. and the world. Midwest airports like Minneapolis-St. Paul have served more than 30 million passengers as of 2010. This means two things: in populated airports like this, you are not merely fighting for travel slots, you are also fighting for parking spots.

The Midwest, just like the rest of the U.S., is bustling with cities, tourists, business trips, and so on. The busiest airports here can be found in three key cities: Chicago, Detroit, and Minneapolis. A packed airport may be a traveler’s worst nightmare, especially if he planned on temporarily parking his car, going to his business meeting across the country, and coming back to retrieve his car at the end of the day. If you’ve had this frustrating experience before, here are some tips for a hassle-free parking experience.

The early bird gets the worm: If you want a tastier example, “the early diner gets the rib eye hot off the grill.” Air travel basics tell you to check in at the airport two hours before your flight. The only problem is that your fellow travelers also follow this rule, so the best thing to do is to be at the airport really early.

If planning on parking at an off-airport lot, reserve a spot so you can put a big “Mine!” signboard on that spot, figuratively speaking. Off-airport parking lots cost less, so you have yourself an oasis where you car can stay for as long as it needs. Even if you’re already assured of the spot, it still pays to be at the airport a bit early.

Stay the night before: Major airports such as the Minneapolis-St. Paul are open all day and night. If you don’t want to drive very early in the morning to catch that three-o’clock flight, stay in a nearby hotel the night before. This also means you have to book a spot in a Minneapolis airport parking lot just as early. Another option for you is to sleep at the airport.

The Midwest is one big hive with people as busy as bees. The last thing you want to happen is to be late for your flight just because you can’t find a decent spot to park at. Take note of these tips when in a Minneapolis St. Paul airport parking lot.

Check out online travel resources such as for more tips on how to enjoy a good trip. Airport parking Minneapolis has to offer can give you some reminders on how to grab a spot before or on the day of your departure.
