American car maker Buick’s success and influence in the country’s automotive industry can be traced back to the 1890’s. Its founder, David Buick, created the Buick Auto-Vim and Power Company in 1899; the company primarily sold engines to both farm and boat industries. Before venturing into the car industry, Mr. Buick excelled in the field of plumbing. He invented the first lawn sprinkler and discovered a new method of covering metal bathroom fixtures. However, he sold his plumbing business for $100,000 to start the aforementioned company.

The idea of replacing a team of horses with a single engine fascinated Buick and he already foresaw the importance of the combustion engine. However, his company started out slow and did not produce a single vehicle until 1904. Before that, however, the company was already in financial trouble. It was then sold to a wagon maker in Michigan.

Although Buick was still beset by financial difficulties, a successful businessman named William Durant took over and changed Buick’s course. Although Durant was not fond of automobiles, he saw how people positively responded to Buick’s innovation. Durant went to a New York Auto Show in 1905 and sold 1,000 cars in that show alone. By 1908, the company has sold more than 8,000 car units–the highest record of sales a car manufacturer made that year.

More than a hundred years later, Buick remains to be one of the top car manufacturers in the country. It focuses on delivering “Premium American Style,” developing innovations for convertibles and crossovers, and reaching out to new markets. In 2002, Buick celebrated 100 years of providing quality vehicles, which are available at Indiana GMC dealerships.

Buick also specializes in sedans and crossover SUVs with the hope of attracting new generation consumers. Class and luxury are still major influences in Buick’s car designs, though some vehicles feature a European touch for a more sporty appeal. Thus, it is a must for Indiana Buick dealers to keep abreast with these latest models to continuously cater to clients who prefer Buick vehicles.

One vehicle an Indiana Buick dealership should have is the 2012 LaCrosse. This vehicle boasts of a free-flowing design, from its wraparound headlights and trademark waterfall grille to its side sweep spears. It showcases Buick’s innovative push-button start and a six-speed transmission that enables the driver to change from automatic to clutch less manual operation. To know more about LaCrosse and other Buick vehicles, drop by a trusted dealership near you.
