A Barcelona Airport hotel is the perfect place in which to stay for tourists wanting to experience the city of Barcelona. Barcelona Airport is the second most popular airport in Spain. Over 30 million people travel through its doors every year. It also has state of the art terminal buildings (T1 and T2) that offer a wide range of facilities for passengers.

Busiest International Flight Routes

The top ranked destination offering flights to and from Barcelona is Amsterdam. Approximately 1.1 million passengers using airlines such as Easyjet, KLM, and Veiling fly to and from Amsterdam annually. The second highest ranked airport with aircraft destined for Barcelona is Charles de Gaulle airport in France. Approximately one million passengers flying with popular carriers such as Air France and Easyjet touch down at Barcelona airport every year. The third highest in terms of providing flights to Barcelona is London-Heathrow, where approximately 725,000 passengers each year use the route to visit the popular city for their holidays.

Ever since Barcelona hosted the Olympic Games, the number of passengers that travel to Barcelona has more than doubled. Barcelona Airport was built to handle up to 55 million passengers per year, and the airport has the capacity to cope with up to 90 passenger flights per hour.

Terminal Facts And Figures

The T1 building has an area that covers approximately 550,000 square metres. It houses more than 160 check-in desks and 15 baggage reclaim carousels. The terminal has access to 60 jetways and a car park with a capacity of approximately 13,000 parking spaces. T2 has an additional 12,000 car park spaces and attracts many low-cost, regional passenger carriers because they offer low landing fees.
