Behind all the extravagancy on the different channels you get to see on the Dish Network there is a small group of people called Script Writers – you will not see them on the screen, and not even their names will be flashed for a moment. Without them there is no story, there is nothing to narrate, and believe me it's nothing and nothing will move either. The truth is a TV program, a drama or a movie all begin with the writers; they conceptualize what will be shown, how much will be shown and how they will be shown. Only after the script has been written does the director really begin his work; making it into a movie or a TV show.

Many people aspire to become script writers, but only a few make it to the top or just make it. The profession is very demanding but those few who have the stamina ultimately make it. If you are one of the few for whom writing, particularly scrip writing, is a passion, but never knew how to go about making it a paying job, here are some tips that should help you. Words of advices are like uncut diamonds, to make them brilliant you need to polish them with care. Do it and adapt it to your own style, and see how success flows in like a stream. You may even become one of the finest script writers in the film circle.

1. As a script writer, your job is to understand the audience first. Understand what they want and why they would want to watch movies or TV shows. Remember the quality of the audience can vary vastly over different geographic areas, especially in a vast country like the US. If you have understood your audience, then you have almost made it to the top, you will be only inches away from become a celebrated TV script writer.

2. Having a plot that you think is not enough, it may be good for you but not for the audience. Everyone thinks and experiences differently, so the next best thing you can do is get them moved. Try to connect them emotionally and the audience would have fallen all over for your scripts.

3. Getting the first assignment can really be tricky. As a script writer, you will be having the story with you already, what you will need to do is bring it alive they way they are done on TV or movies. That means you cannot adopt the same word or the style you see in the story. Make them appear a little more realistic, or if the situation demands as unrealistic as you can. It all depends on the quality and the kind of audience you will have. Did you ever think that moviegoers and TV watchers believe everything they see on the screen? Not really they are not worried about that, all that matters to them is getting carried away or moved.

4. Finally the thing that you have to be very clear in your movies or TV scripts is to tell who the hero is, if you cannot then nothing else will work. Make him appear like a demigod, it does not matter even if it is unreal; audiences really don't care if they can be entertained. Let the hero's words be dramatic and unexpected.

5. Meet the program director as often as you can get your work revised. The director is the only person who can see the entire work holistically; because there are other angles to the movie that he may be making. It can do with budgets, the hero and of course the villains to name some of them. Finally the hero's ability to deliver your script is the most important factor that will ultimately decide the fate of your script.
