Understanding various Aspects of Singapore Employment Pass
If you want to experience Singapore’s true potential as a business centre then as a non-Singaporean citizen you will definitely need an employment pass Singapore. This is a working visa that is issued by Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower to the skilled workers, entrepreneurs, professionals, managers or business owners whether they are directors or shareholders of a company registered in the island nation. As Singapore is one of the world’s most reputed investment hubs, thus the Ministry of Manpower follows some regulations while providing employment pass Singapore. They provide permits to live and work for only eligible foreigners; this eradicates any chances of illegal business operations. Such a process also reduces any chances of legal hindrances that are associated with running offshore businesses in other parts of the world.
If you have an employment pass Singapore you could travel in and out of Singapore with greater ease. There will be no hassles faced at immigration. This work permit is also looked upon as a step closer to getting Permanent Residence in Singapore. But getting employment pass is a subject to many considerations and other requirements. The following persons are provided an employment pass Singapore :
•If you are a foreign individual and want to relocate to Singapore for business related matters.
•Entrepreneurs who have an established business in Singapore and want to employ other foreign individuals for their business operations.
•Foreign individuals who have received an employment offer in Singapore. In such a situation the recruiting company has to process the application on part of the individual.
Once the employment pass Singapore is issued it will remain valid for two years for the first time applicants. Subsequent applications will be valid for duration of three years. As per the Ministry of Manpower there is a three step process to applying for any employment pass Singapore:
•First Step: If the company has been recently incorporated an authorization code (that is released by Ministry of Manpower after couple of weeks) must be obtained before you can submit the application online.
•Second Step: Employment Pass applications should be submitted online after obtaining the authorization code. Generally two weeks are taken by the Ministry to approve the application.
•Third Step: A letter known as IPA (In Principal Approval) is sent to the e-mail inbox of the applicant after the application is approved. This IPA will contain the Work Pass division as decided by the Ministry of Manpower. From the date of notification for approval this IPA will have a validity of six months. Other documents required to obtain employment pass Singapore other than IPA are medical exam done from your country, original passport, copy of recently used passport size photograph and some other requirements that will be specified by the Ministry.
Approval or disapproval of the applications is sole discretion of the Ministry. They use various other criterions such as applicant’s current citizenship, salary, age, relevant work experience, expected roles and responsibilities, etc. But whatever may be their criteria there are some basic skills that the applicant must possess to get employment pass Singapore such as:
